BTS: The Wedding Workshop in Santa Barbara

Our first in-person flower workshop since 2019 — can you believe it?

Hosted at The Santa Barbara House, and scheduled concurrently with Jen Huang Bogan’s photography workshop, our wedding workshop covered topics related to a real wedding production day. We made bouquets, boutonnières, partnered with photographers on flat lay styling, created centerpiece arrangements, prepped votives and taper candles, and collaborated on a ceremony altar piece.

Our students enjoyed working with live plant material in addition to gorgeous cut product, sourced from Gather Flora as well as Florabundance, Z Callas in Los Angeles, and local garden rose farm, Rose Story Farm. White garden roses are notoriously hard to ship by virtue of their tendency to bruise, so it was a treat to pick up five buckets of them directly from Patti and team at Rose Story Farm in Carpinteria!

The best part of all was sitting down to dinner together at the end of the day, underneath the cotton voile draping our team had set-up in the olive grove, in front of the beautiful centerpieces our students had designed, and enjoying tons of laughs and spoonfuls of paella with friends, new and old.
